Why to flash firmware (FW)? (what is FW?) Usually because of modding (changing internal Samsung Monte's look). If you want to have a mod, you must have supported firmware. It should be MFJF1 or XEJE1. MFJF is better, because it contains Samsung LBS (it's GPS navigation for Samsung Monte).
The most important thing is to make sure you don't have SIMLOCK OR NETWORK lock ON (input *#7465625# to keyboard and you will see) If you have network lock on, there's 50/50 chance you will brick your phone, but if you have simlock on, you will always brick your phone. I suggest, if you have a lock ON, DO NOT FLASH!
